One Chance, One Opportunity

Rumor has it that Eminem slept through the entire Academy Awards ceremony because he didn’t think that a rap song had any chance of winning. 50 Cent has explicitly stated that the plans for the new TV series were “in motion.” It appears that the TV show will aim to adapt the film for the small screen.

50 Cent revealed that he wanted to bring 8 Mile to TV and he wanted it to be big. 50 Cent wants to honor Eminem’s legacy because it’s important to him that more and more people understand it. Eminem and 50 Cent are close friends, and the famous rappers have praised each other plenty of times over the years.

When referring to his fellow rapper as a “real hip hop guy,” 50 Cent claimed he didn’t think he received enough credit for the huge contribution he made to hip hop. According to Jay-Z, Eminem claimed, he couldn’t do it if he couldn’t bring 50 Cent with him when asked if he would perform at the Super Bowl without 50 Cent.

For those who still haven’t seen it yet, the version from 2002 of the 8 Mile movie is accessible on Netflix. It is based on rapper Jimmy Smith Jr. who lives in a trailer park and dreams of making it big. Mekhi Phifer, recently suggested that it could be “better simply to leave it alone” and not make a TV series because they had already made a true classic and there was no reason to monkey around with it.
