A Quick and Easy Healthy Recipe for Homemade Carrot Chips

Although they’re not everyone’s favorite treat, carrots are actually one of the most versatile vegetables out there. You can bake, boil, grill, fry, and even ferment them. The best part? You can make super delicious and healthy baked chips, too. Here’s how to make them at home!

Incredibly simple and easy to make, this carrot chips recipe calls for just four ingredients:

  • Carrots — they need to be thinly sliced, about ¼-inch thick. You can slice them yourself in any shape you like, or if you’re lazy, you can buy the pre-sliced carrots sold at the store. Keep in mind the store-bought ones are a tad bit thicker.
  • Olive oil — you can substitute it with any other oil type you prefer. For example, you can use avocado oil instead — its smoke point is higher. Melted butter works well, too.
  • Kosher salt and black pepper — be careful not to add too much salt if you’re using fine salt
  • Garlic powder — a stale spice is the last thing your delicious carrot chips need. Make sure the garlic powder you use is fresh. You can also use fresh minced garlic.

How to Make Carrot Chips at Home

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 450° Fahrenheit. Grab the carrots and coat the slices with olive oil (or the oil of your choice), salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 2

Arrange the carrot slices on a sheet pan that is lined with baking paper. Roast them for about 20 minutes until they get golden-brown and crispy.

Homemade Carrot Chips

Keep in mind that some of the slices will brown faster in the oven than others, depending on their thickness. If it bothers you, simply remove them and keep roasting until you have crunchy carrot chips to your liking.
