The Required Ingredients
To make four servings of scrumptious carrot bacon, you will need the following ingredients and around 20 minutes of time:
- Two large carrots
- Half a teaspoon of liquid smoke
- Two tablespoons of olive oil
- Two tablespoons of soy sauce (low sodium)
- One tablespoon of maple syrup
- Half a teaspoon of garlic powder
- A quarter of a teaspoon of onion powder and ground black pepper each
- An eighth of a teaspoon of ground paprika
Preparing the Carrot Bacon
Heat the oven to 350 Fahrenheit and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Wash and dry the carrots and proceed to slice them into thin ribbons using a peeler. Mix all the remaining ingredients in a shallow bowl and place the sliced carrots in the marinade, letting them soak for at least 10 minutes.
Using tongs, translate all the carrot slices onto the baking tray, making sure they don’t overlap. Bake the carrots for 10-15 minutes, making sure to flip them halfway through the cooking process. When they’re ready, they will become slightly charred and wavy.
