Let the Donuts Cool Completely
If a donut is stored while it’s still hot, the heat will make it sweat. That leads to a very soggy donut, which is just as bad as a dry one. By letting them cool completely before storing them away, the chances of them maintaining freshness the next day are much higher! Once they’re cool, it’s possible to store them safely and even package and freeze them for up to a month!

Invest in Food Storage Containers
If your donuts are from a local bakery, they likely came in a cardboard box. Keeping them in there will keep them fresh longer, but that box is in no way airtight. To keep them overnight and have them soft and tasty the next morning, wrap them in plastic wrap or foil first. However, if they were homemade, the best way to store them is in airtight food containers. If they’re glazed, don’t layer them on top of each other or they will stick together and tear the topping from each other once someone attempts to separate them!

Refresh Those That are Already Stale
If a donut is already dry and stale, there’s a quick fix for that. If placed in the microwave for around 15 seconds, it will soften up again. Keep in mind, this donut should be eaten right away because it will go dry and hard quickly once it cools down again, so storing them for a longer period won’t be an option.
