A sleep expert, who goes by the name Levitex on TikTok, has recently shared important information about the optimal sleeping positions for improving health. With over 650.8k followers, his advice has attracted people looking to enhance their sleep patterns. Here are some key takeaways from the sleep expert’s insights.
The Soldier Position

The first recommended position, often dubbed “The Soldier,” involves lying on your back during sleep. Levitex explains that this posture offers notable benefits. By resting on your back, your body weight is evenly distributed across the mattress, leading to immediate support for the spine. Elevating your knees slightly with a pillow under them causes a gentle pelvic tilt, which enhances contact between your back and the bed. This small adjustment can make a significant difference in the level of support your body receives during sleep.
The Dreamer Position

Levitex also recommends side sleeping, which he fondly calls “The Dreamer.” He points out the benefits of this position based on clinical evidence. Side sleeping can alleviate bodily tension and offer a more comfortable sleep. Alignment plays a key role in this posture. For the best support, align your ears, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles in a vertical line. Using a pillow between your knees and ankles can enhance this alignment, improving overall body support throughout your sleep.
User Responses and Concerns
Levitex’s recommendations have certainly resonated with a wide audience, drawing widespread attention and gaining approval from many. However, as with any advice, diverse viewpoints have emerged from viewers. Some individuals have expressed concerns about fully embracing back sleeping due to potential challenges. They worry that switching to this sleep position might trigger unwanted experiences, undermining the benefits it offers. Additionally, some have inquired about the potential impact of these suggested positions on aspects like dream quality and snoring tendencies. This highlights the importance of considering a range of factors and finding a sleep posture that aligns not only with expert advice but also with one’s unique comfort and needs.
Balancing Health and Comfort
While the sleep expert’s advice provides important tips for maintaining spinal alignment and support while sleeping, it’s important to consider your own comfort as well. Many factors affect sleep quality, and personal habits and preferences play a role. Ultimately, the key is to find a sleeping position that not only supports your health but also feels comfortable for you. By combining informed decisions with a sleep routine that prioritizes your individual comfort, you can create an environment conducive to better and more peaceful sleep.
Secret Blue Whale Population Discovered in the Indian Ocean
Despite its enormous size, the blue whale still has ways to evade human detection. Just recently, scientists discovered a secret population of pygmy blue whales near a group of islands in the Indian Ocean. Researchers were analyzing acoustic data collected by an underwater nuclear detector when they stumbled upon a beautiful song they had never heard before.
The Largest Animal That Has Ever Lived
Although the blue whale is the largest animal to have ever lived on Earth (that we know of), detecting it in the vast depths of the ocean is still extremely difficult. Given that blue whales were driven to the edge of extinction and their numbers are extremely low (about 5,000 to 10,000) compared to the past (about 350,000), it’s extremely promising when scientists find more of these cetaceans.
Currently, the majority of blue whales live and move alone and are spread across vast geographic areas. That’s why scientists have discovered that the best and most efficient way to study and track them is through passive acoustic monitoring.
To further their research, scientists turned to the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and its underwater acoustic relay network. That essentially gave them access to two decades worth of recordings of the unique songs of the blue whale.
The Blue Whale’s Distinct Song
The lead author of the study, Emmanuelle Leroy, said that blue whale songs are typically quite simple as they follow the repetition of the same pattern. But as the researchers listened to the audio data, they came across a particular song they had never heard before. Each song belongs to a particular population, and given that they found this new song in the data record going back 18 years, researchers believe they have potentially found an entirely new population and not just a few solitary blue whales.
This is promising news not only for scientists but also for the world in general, as it gives hope that blue whales may slowly be regaining their numbers.
